The Winery
At Montechiaro, winemaking has deep roots stretching back over three centuries. Sangiovese and other native Chianti grape varieties, carefully preserved by generations of tenant farmers, tell the story of the heritage and express the unique terroir of the Sienese hills.
For the past twenty years, the estate has been managed as a certified organic farm by the latest generation of the family, led by Alessandro Griccioli—manager, sommelier, and photographer—driven by a passion for showcasing both the wines and the land.
Every stage of production reflects a sustainable philosophy: grapes are hand-harvested, fermentations occur spontaneously, and sulfites are used minimally. This combination of craftsmanship, tradition, and respect for the natural environment makes Montechiaro wines a true expression of Tuscany.
