Villa La Scuola

Villa La Scuola is a charming 19th-century villa that once served as the estate's mill and schoolhouse. It sits in the heart of Tenuta di Montechiaro, a 150-hectare organic wine and olive oil farm run by our family in the Chianti hills, just 7 km from medieval Siena.

Surrounded by a fully fenced olive grove, the house looks out over rolling hills and vineyards. Two large rose-covered terraces with teak dining tables and a barbecue are made for long dinners outdoors. Two separate kitchens let guests cook different meals at the same time, whether vegetarian, vegan or for little ones. Just below the house lies the fenced saltwater pool, framed by a flower garden, with 10 sunbeds and two large gazebos for shade among the olive trees. Children will love the wooden playhouse and the many toys available.

Inside, the restoration has preserved the original vaulted ceilings, terracotta floors and brickwork. Every room reflects the diplomatic life of Marcello and Emanuela, who collected paintings, sculptures, furniture and objects from around the world, from Tanzania to Russia, Norway and Somalia.
