2017 - THE GREAT YEAR
Great red wines are defined not only by their origin, but by their ability to evolve. For this reason, we have preserved a small library of historic Supertuscan vintages — a curated selection that allows us to observe how our vineyards in the hills of Chianti express themselves over time and how terroir, vintage conditions, and winemaking choices interact across years.
The 2017 vintage represents a compelling example of this evolution. Now at full maturity, it expresses the character of southern Chianti with clarity and balance: refined spicy nuances, balsamic depth, and a texture that reflects both concentration and integration. It is a vintage that confirms how time can enhance structure and reveal complexity.
Recently, we conducted horizontal tastings with selected wine journalists to analyze and discuss this progression in a comparative context. These sessions reinforced a clear perception: the wines are currently at an expressive peak, where primary fruit has harmonized with tertiary development and the identity of the vineyard becomes distinctly recognizable.
Arteliquida Rosso — 100% Malvasia Nera from a single vineyard — shows an aromatic profile marked by licorice, blackberry tart, cloves, and bitter cocoa.
Into the Primum Vinum, our top Supertuscan, Sangiovese component contributes further depth with notes of dark chocolate, mint, forest floor, plum, and dried orange peel. The result is a warm vintage with refined minerality and a generous, well-balanced structure — particularly suited to pairing with winter dishes and mature flavors.
Through this library, we aim to document and communicate a simple but essential concept: time is not merely a factor in preservation, but a dimension that shapes and elevates the authentic expression of our terroir.
The box includes:
- 6 Supertuscan Sangiovese 2017
- 6 Arteliquida Rosso 2017 - 100% Malvasia nera - single vineyards (last bottles!)
Time is not merely a factor in preservation — it is a dimension that shapes and elevates the authentic expression of terroir.
